Extension troubleshooting

Microphone blocked, no tab audio, or the recorder not responding — fixes for the Chrome extension.

Updated 2026-10-20 View as markdown

When something's wrong, the panel shows a card naming the problem and a button that fixes it. Each card also has a folded Technical details section — copy it into any message to support.

The microphone is blocked

The card's button opens Chrome's settings page for meaty. Set the microphone to Allow, then click Done in the panel. Closed the settings tab too early? Click Open the settings tab again.

"Tab audio isn't on for this tab yet"

Chrome only shares a tab's audio after you click the meaty icon on that tab. Go to the meeting tab and click the icon. The keyboard shortcut doesn't count — it has to be the icon.

Only my voice was recorded

Either Mic was selected instead of Mic + tab, or the tab wasn't approved (see above). Check the panel's will capture: line before you start.

"meaty's recorder didn't respond"

Click Restart meaty. It reloads the extension. This is only offered when you're not recording, so a recording in progress is never interrupted.

Signed out

The panel shows Sign in. Sign in again, then click I'm signed in — refresh if the panel doesn't pick it up within a few seconds.

The meeting is in a desktop app

The extension can't record the Zoom or Teams desktop apps — see Record a browser meeting.

Still stuck

Contact support from the panel's account sheet, and paste the Technical details text.
