How speakers get names
meaty separates the voices in a recording, then names them from what it knows:
- From the conversation — "Thanks, Maria" tells it who Maria is. Roles such as "Narrator" never become people.
- You — meaty recognises your own voice.
- Your calendar — invitees of the matched event are placed as assumed names, waiting for you to confirm.
- Voices it has heard before — shown as a Sounds like…? suggestion. Suggestions are never applied without you.
Fixing speakers
Open the transcript and choose Edit speakers:
- Rename a speaker — the notes update to the new name.
- Merge two speakers that are really one person.
- Press and hold a name to give one passage to someone else.
The People page
On the web and desktop app, People lists everyone meaty has heard. From there you can:
- search;
- Merge into… another person;
- mark someone Not a person;
- add an email address;
- delete a person.
People not yet confirmed carry an unconfirmed badge.
