How minutes are counted
A recording uses as many minutes as it lasts. Meetings and voice notes count the same; imported audio files count too, and are checked against your minutes before they upload.
These don't use minutes:
- a recording whose transcription failed — until a retry succeeds;
- a recording discarded for being too short;
- chat, templates, spoken corrections and briefings.
The monthly reset
Free minutes reset to 120 at the start of each calendar month (UTC). Unused minutes don't roll over. Settings → Plan & minutes shows what's left and when it resets.
Running low, running out
- Below 20 minutes left, meaty lets you know.
- At zero, a new recording can't start: No recording minutes left this month — see your plan in Settings.
- A recording already running is never cut off for minutes. It's counted in full, even past zero.
The free 30-minute limit
On the free plan, a single recording can run 30 minutes. A countdown then appears, and five minutes later the recording stops and is saved: This recording reached the free-plan length limit and was saved.
Other limits
- Two recordings at once, at most.
- Earlier pay-as-you-go balances are still honoured, though they're no longer sold.
