Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data meaty (“we”) processes when you use the app, why, and who processes it on our behalf. We keep it plain.
What we process
- Account data — your email address and name, and (if you sign in with Google or GitHub) the basic profile those providers return.
- Your recordings and transcripts — the audio you record and the transcript, summary, and action items generated from it.
- Calendar data — only if you choose to connect Google Calendar: the names of your calendars, and for the calendars you select, the title, time, recurrence and invitees of events that overlap your recordings. See Google Calendar below.
- Marketing attribution — if you arrive from a campaign, the UTM parameters in the link, so we can understand which channels bring people to meaty.
- Technical data — limited data such as your IP address, used only for security and abuse prevention (e.g. rate limiting).
- Cookies — a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a first-party attribution cookie for the UTM data above. No third-party advertising cookies.
How your audio is processed, and by whom
To turn your recording into notes, we send the audio and transcript to third-party processors that act on our instructions. They are located in the United States and the European Union:
- Deepgram (US) and OpenAI (US) — speech-to-text transcription and speaker diarization.
- Google (Gemini API, US) — generating the title, summary, and action items from the transcript.
- Cloud storage provider (S3-compatible, US or EU depending on configuration) — storing your recordings, transcripts, and notes.
- Stripe (US) — payment processing, only if you subscribe to a paid plan.
- Google / GitHub (US) — only if you choose to sign in with them.
We do not sell or disclose your personal information. The content you record is processed solely to produce your notes and provide the service — it is not used to build advertising profiles, and (to our knowledge and per our agreements) is not used by these providers to train their models on your data. Where processing happens in the US, it relies on the appropriate safeguards for international transfers (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).
Google Calendar (optional integration)
Connecting Google Calendar is optional — meaty works without it, and the permission is never bundled into signing in. We ask for read-only access and we never create, change, or delete anything in your calendar. When connected, our server reads:
- Your calendar list — the names of your calendars, so you can choose which ones meaty should look at. Calendars you do not select are not read.
- Events on the calendars you selected — the title, start and end time, the recurring-event identifier, and the invitees (their display names and email addresses).
- The connected account's email address — shown in the app so you can tell which Google account is linked.
We use this only to: name the meeting you just recorded after the event it overlapped, recognise recurring meetings as a series, and suggest who was in the room when you edit speaker names. Calendar data is read by our server when you browse your calendars and at the moment a recording is saved — meaty does not continuously sync or monitor your calendar.
What we keep. When a recording matches an event, we store that event's title, time, recurrence identifier and invitee names and email addresses alongside that meeting, and invitees may become entries in your participants list. We do not keep a copy of your wider calendar.
Disconnecting. You can disconnect at any time in the app. That revokes our access with Google and deletes the stored connection, so we can read nothing further. Event details already saved against past meetings, and participants already created from invitees, remain until you delete those meetings or ask us to delete your account.
Limited Use. meaty's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we do not use Google Calendar data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not transfer it except as needed to provide the features described above or where the law requires it, and we do not use it to develop, improve, or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine-learning models. No human at meaty reads your calendar data except with your explicit permission, to resolve a problem you have reported to us, for security purposes, or where required by law.
Your responsibility for the content you record
You are responsible for what you record and share with meaty. You must have the right to record each conversation and obtain the consent of everyone being recorded, as required by the law where you are. In Germany in particular, recording the confidential spoken word of others without their consent is prohibited. Do not upload or record content you do not have the right to process, and do not share sensitive information you are not permitted to.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your recordings and notes until you delete them or your account. You can delete individual meetings in the app, or contact us to delete your account and associated data.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, export, and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@meaty.me.
We process your data on the legal bases of performing our contract with you (providing the service), your consent (where asked), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
Terms of Service
By using meaty you agree to these terms.
The service
meaty records a meeting from your device and turns it into a title, summary, action items, and a speaker-labeled transcript. Some features are free; others may require a paid subscription.
Your content
You keep all rights to the content you record. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process it — to transcribe it, generate your notes, and store and show it back to you. You are responsible for using the service lawfully, including obtaining any consent required to record (see the privacy section above).
Acceptable use
Do not use meaty to record or process content unlawfully, to infringe others’ rights, or to abuse or disrupt the service.
Availability and liability
The service is provided on a best-effort, “as is” basis without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and termination
We may update the service and these terms; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, to the extent permitted by applicable mandatory consumer law.
