# Google Calendar

*Updated 2026-10-20*

Connected to Google Calendar, meaty matches each recording to the event it
belongs to. That gives the meeting its attendees (which helps name
speakers), shows the event name, and groups recurring meetings into a
[series](/docs/library-and-search#series).

## Connect

1. In the web or desktop app, open **Integrations → Google Calendar**.
2. Google's consent screen opens. Allow meaty to **read** your calendar.
   *(To be confirmed.)*
3. You're back in meaty, connected.

Calendar access is separate from signing in with Google: you can sign in
with Google without connecting the calendar, and the other way round.

meaty's access is **read-only**. It never creates, changes or deletes
events.

## Choose calendars

At first, only your primary calendar is used. Add others under **Manage
calendars**.

## How a recording is matched

meaty picks the event that overlaps the recording most, allowing five
minutes either side. When two events tie, the one with invitees wins.
All-day, cancelled and declined events are skipped.

A matched meeting keeps the event's name, time, invitees and whether it
recurs. meaty's own title for the meeting stays; the event name shows
underneath it.

## Link an event by hand

No match, or the wrong one? Open the meeting and link the right event —
meaty offers events within 12 hours of the recording. This works on every
surface.

## Disconnect

Disconnecting revokes meaty's access at Google. Meetings already matched
keep their event details.
